USEFUL VIDEO: I found this feature story on Texas Country Reporter, about a woman who, with a year left before she would turn her farm over to its new owners, went out and painted what she saw every day. In class, when we do units on painting from life outside, I find this video helpful since it attaches real human emotions to what might seem to the kids just an academic exercise.

  1. Mr. Mike, this is an awesome video... thank you for sharing it... perhaps some 5th graders would like to take on a project like this, commemorating their last year in elementary school...

  3. I really enjoyed watching this video. I think it's a great example that feeling and emotions don't always have to be captured in words. It so important for them to see that they have different ways to express themselves. Thanks for posting this!

  4. Very touching video, Mr. Mike. I think sometimes it is hard and at the same time interesting to figure out what were the artist's thoughts while creating his/her paintings, sculptures, etc. I think this video teaches how there is really an emotion attached to a painting. Thanks for sharing this.
